How do blow the Indian ( asian-indian) flute to make music?

Is there a special way to blow because when I blow there is no sound. Do you have to cover the hole or barely surface it?

YOU HAVE TO BLOW AND SUCK IN ALSO..AND MOVE YOUR FINGERS AROUND..DONT PLUG THE HOLES UP...RATHER TRY TO "SHOVE " THE AIR AWAY FROM THE HOLES

Both the lips have to be on the side of the blowing hole
