Yes! Our minds are very powerful, and can affect the matter.

Did you ever JUMP in response to a scary scene in a movie? Did your heart ever pound in anticipation of a stressful situation? Did you ever feel a knot in your stomach remembering something that happened in the past? In each case, you are reacting based on what your MIND is processing, even though it isn't even really happening (at least not at that time).

The flip side of this is that you can be in a crisis and be calm if your mind believes you are okay. This is why you see people in certain success seminars get psyched up and be able to walk on hot coals. Some people can even go through surgery without anesthesia and without pain, if they are properly hypnotized.

Yes it's possible. Mind over matter is a concept that has been used for many years. Most people who use this technique, and I say technique because, there are some cultures and customs that have mastered such phenomena of, mind over matter for decades. The mind is a controlling factor that controls every part of our body, from our senses to our physical mechanics. By placing the mind above the matter, one is able to control the force or energy by manipulating the matter.

Yes, it is all debatable, questionable and maybe speculative to some, but I find it to be relevant to the matter. How else are we to absorb information to gain knowledge and wisdom? We share ideas, thoughts and logic. How else do you think Philosophers obtained their information to philosophize on practically everything and anything? From shared thoughts, views, ideas and concepts. That's what makes philosophy interesting to me.

Yes, of course. The mind is a powerful thing. I have a surefire cure for hiccups! When someone has the hiccups, you look them in the eye & say "Convince me that you have the hiccups." Then, when they try to do it on command, they find that they can't & the hiccups (hiccoughs?) are gone! It works every time! It's funny!

Also, look at people who walk on hot coals or lie on a bed of nails etc are proof of mind over matter. People can withstand great physical pain, coldness etc by using their mental power. In a less dramatic sense, your attitude can make a bad situation (like hating your job for instance, no reason I bring that up... yeah ok I'm working this weekend...) seem more tolerable or even enjoyable. Two people doing the same terrible job, but one smiling & making the best of it & the other frowning & grumbling. Life isn't just what happens to you, it's your reaction to it, thoughts about it. You can choose to be positive (but it's harder for some of us!)

If you think of "mind" as your thoughts, beliefs, etc. etc. and therefore not matter, and if you think of your brain as matter, obviously, one way of looking at it is that mind is the software running on the hardware of your brain. There is no mind without a brain for it to run on. It becomes a very complex feedback loop. The way your brain is structured affects your thoughts, beliefs, etc. etc., i.e. mind, and your thoughts, affected by your environment, can in turn make changes in the structure and function of your brain. It's a two way street, so I guess my answer is yes.

YES ! I think it"s a mental ability that some people learn to control; but most of us may just stumble into by accident....One night I was washing the dishes when it started thundering+lightning outside. I was holding a fork in my left hand and slightly touched it with the right-hand dishrag and it bent like the letter U. I put no more pressure on it than it would take to bend a feather...I swear !..A mystical night I won"t forget.....

Definitely. It is even very Biblical. In the Holy Scriptures, Mankind is encouraged to concentrate and focus on the positive things that elevate the Human Spirit, for we actually become that which we think and speak. New research in vibratory frequency dynamics of the electromagnetic spectrum appears to support this, for thought and the spoken word are resonance of vibration and frequency, oscillating waves. Different frequencies appear to generate different effects. Hence, your own words can curse or bless, whether it is aimed at others, or turned in on yourself via self-cursing and self-blessing. This can alter "matter", e.g. physiology, causing disease to generate, e.g. cancer, or causing healing and wholeness to flourish. There also appears to be a "principle of attraction" connected to this phenomenon, where the vibration frequency behind a curse (a negative polarity) directed at someone, must return to the curser in manifold multiplication, thus materializing tangible physical harm to the curser; and where the vibration frequency behind a blessing (a positive polarity) directed at someone, must return to the blesser in manifold multiplication, thus materializing tangible physical good to the blesser.

Yes. There have been many news stories about mothers that suddenly have the strength to lift a car when they're put in a position to rescue their children. Fathers, too. Ever heard the phrase "It's all in your head"? Sometimes that can be a good thing too.

Yes.
When you're weary on a trek, if you tell yourself otherwise and not think about how hard it is or how far the route is, you'll discover that you can go on much further than you believe.
