When I first moved here, the first person I met was my boyfriend. We were inseparable and I didn't bother to make any other friends. He went to Iraq for a year, and I made a few friends, but nothing lasting. I really want some quality friends I can hang out with once in awhile. I go to college, but I'm a bit older than my classmates, and don't share the same interests (getting wasted daily). I'm not religious either, so church is not an option. Any other suggestions on how to meet nice, normal people?

My boyfriend has been back from Iraq for over a year now....So the support group isn't really right for me anymore.

You don't have to match to make friends. It just happens. Just be open and friendly. If you smile half the battle is won. Irrespective of age, color or gender.

but you still need more friends in the neighborhood...What if you have your boyfriend again away from you....I think you simply want friends because you need them when you boyfriend is away.... BE friendly and be genuine ... Adjust with them so they would adjust with you too.. Even your boyfriend is with you there comes a time you will need help from your neighbors....Join homeowners association, mingle withem, attend meetings . Who knows you may meet a friend your looking for in that group...
