Yeah, I would check with the pediatrician for advice on this one. That is a long time for a newby to be in a car-seat. I think 6 months is OK to START traveling if it's really important.

Honey, let me ask you a question? What do you think they did in the horse and buggy times? It didn't kill any of them, remember? We are the offspring of those people.
Just kidding to some degree.... People have gotten so carried away with Dr. Spock and such that now it is getting to be funny. At that age, a baby sleeps three quarters of the day. Make sure they eat and have dry pants and they don't care if they are in a bed or a car seat. All they care about is a full tummy, a dry bottom and moms voice every once in a while. Go on your trip and have a good time..After 4 kids and 8 grandkids (who all lived by the way, after long trips in the first month) I predict your baby will love the trip and so will you!!

You do what you have to do when you have to do it. Actually newborns and infants sleep so much its not so bad. We traveled about 12-13 hours with our 8 week old twice and twice again at about 4 months due to sickness, then death in the family. Other than having to stop to get the baby out of the carseat so I could nurse him it wasn't too bad.

There is no certain age for newborn travel but you should get your child out of the seat every 2 hours "stretch" and reposition, diaper change, and feed on your childs eating schedule at that particular age, always stopping to feed in case of choking and for burping(since you can't burp inside the seat)Also your child needs to be held when fed for bonding etc.Have your car seat properly installed and keep the car temperature regulated.Always have extra of everything in case of emergencys such as car trouble etc.Bring extra blanket and ride in the back next to your child because its just easier. Also when riding in the car if your child were to get choked etc you couldn't reach your child as easily, assist your child, and if the radio is on etc you may not hear your child if he/she needs you.If you are driving and there is not an adult to sit in the back with the child etc I would NOT take the trip.Always have the carseat properly installed in the middle of the vechicle.I hope this helps.Good luck!

I personally feel its O.K. to take the newborn on the road trip but take a break every hour or two depending on the baby needs. Allow yourselves plenty of time. It may take more than 14 hours to get to your destination. But I would not take MY CHILD on a 2 hour road trip. Children are different and very unique so your newborn may be the type to just wanna sleep eat and poop it out only to start all over again. But my child wants to be held and feel affection and most of all just see my face. So first pin-point which kind of child you are dealing with and try to clock your child on a daily and know when your child is about to do everthing before he or she even does it.
So I guess its your decision................

The baby will probably be fine. You must know first if you are willing to make possibly numerous stops along the way for feeding, burping changing, comforting.... Therein lies the answer. Are YOU ready for a 14 hour long road trip with a newborn?

14 hour road trip?? where are you going??? London??
Ok, newborn babies usually don't move often, so he could handle to ride on a car seat (not for 14 hours straight though) he stayed for nine months inside a very small place without space to move freely (you) but if you don't have another choice (like flying) well....I wish you PATIENCE and Good luck..you will need it!!
The only problem with him being to much time on one position can make the back part of his head flat, but that is if you put him everyday for the entire day.

Goodness! I learn the opposite solutions, and I generally do not believe such a lot of them! I'd wait till after the start to head. It may be very tiring to transport in the course of past due being pregnant, and will particularly sap your vigour. I understand this from individual revel in. And you COULD cross into exertions early, away out of your deliberate supply position. Once your youngster is born, so long as you're breastfeeding, you are well to head! Tiny toddlers generally tend to journey good. The trip will most likely maintain the youngster asleep a well facet of the time. (That's one well rationale to permit your self further hours at a inn, seeing that the youngster will then be wide awake, and also you ought to get sufficient leisure.) Wait till when you give up bleeding from the start. That might most likely be at one million-two weeks. Going at the same time nonetheless bleeding might make you susceptible to hemorrhage. Plan on preventing for the night time a few occasions. Stay rested. Stop at the same time it's nonetheless mild, and go away as soon as it's mild once more. If you're involved approximately safeguard, you'll learn my web page on self safeguard, which I have given underneath. Be alert. The youngster will do exceptional, notably if you're breastfeeding. With a force, the adjustment in altitude is sluggish, so there should not be any quandary. If the youngster appears to be feeling ear strain, you'll feed, and that allows you to get rid of it because the youngster swallows. When you do feed, case the discipline, and ensure it is a nontoxic position to give up. A good saved gasoline station is one well alternative, as is the automobile parking space of a fine eating place. If any person ways you for a handout, forget about them (should you talk a international language, I have located it useful to speak in that language; it confuses them they usually depart, simply so it isn't Spanish. Someone could recognize then you definately! LOL) I bore 5 youngsters, and I did a few touring for public speakme at the same time the youngest was once rather younger (exceptional ones at exceptional occasions). I by no means had any disorders with touring. If I was once at the aircraft, I wore my youngster on my frame in a at ease sling (with a infant, they are going to help you do this and it does not fee further.) I additionally did a few riding. But I moved in the course of my 7th month with one, and I by no means did get better my vigour degree after that.
