It is according to how big the cuts are. Put some antibiotic ointment on them and then cover them with a band aid. Keep this on it until FULLY healed. It might take up to a week. Good luck!

Well, the scar that healed slower was probably mildly infected, which may affect it's healing speed. Also, blood supply is crucial in healing. The better blood supply there is, the faster. So, it just depends where the cut was on your body. A way to minimize the visibility of scars is to lightly massage it daily. I haven't personally done it but it's thought to reorganize the collagen fibers that make up the scar into a more organized pattern, hence making it blend into your own skin.

In the UK, you can't buy antibiotic creams, and my scars heal perfectly well without them.

Keep the area clean and dry. Don't pick at the scab, as this delays healing. Once the skin is intact again, apply a hydrating cream. Aqueous cream is cheap and does the job; vit E cream is better for scar reduction; emu oil is fantastic for taking away the itch of healing scars, and can reduce scar formation too.

I'm glad your friends are helping you through this.

If this was a one-off occurence, then I'm sure with your friends help you will be fine. If this is how you cope regularly, then it is worth asking for some help - your family doctor is a great place to get initial advice.

I've cut myself for years, and didn't tell anyone for a long time, because I was scared they'd be cross with me or treat me differently. When my doctor finally found out, he was really lovely with me, and helpful and I wished I'd spoken to him sooner.

Good luck.

If the cut is less than one cm and/or three inches long you shoul make sure that it stays dry and ventilated, over night, I know you probably did this already but put Neosporin or triple antibiotic ointment, it is proven to help skin heal much faster. If it is a really bad cut then you may want to take more percaution and have a doctor look at it. I hope it gets better soon.Good luck

Neosporin antibiotic cream works the best. I am not going to make comments on your cutting being a bad move, you are intelligent enough to realize that. I just want you to know that sometimes friends' best intentions are not the best option, even though friend support is very important. If you cut there is more than likely a reason behind it. I would like to encourage you to seek professional help if you feel the need to cut again in the future. Best of luck.

If you have scabs that's a good thing. it means it is healing and not getting infected. Now you need to get the scabs soft. Put some bacitracin or any antibiotic ointment on them at night and claen in the morning. Should be falling off real soon. Good luck baby girl!

-->> Do this ASAP !There are new bandaids out now that cover and heal at the same time. they reall really work!!! I had to use one and did not have a scar. There are also ones for wounds that have already started healing and they reduce scarring. Ask a pharmacist . You can actually just pick them up at Walmart or any Walgreens. They are wonderful!

Let it heal with neosporin and band aids. Don't pick the scabs off!! After its healed, use Mederma on it to make the scars go away.

Neosporin and band aids... you should let it air out at night and then when your either at school or work or whatever you do apply the ointment and clean bandages. Don't let yourself feel bad, I've been there, the scars can fade away completely, at least you have friends who are there for you and you realize that you made a mistake. good luck!

Repeat this process twice daily: Foam out infection with hydrogen peroxide. Rinse. Dry. Then apply Neosporin (OTC) or equivalent. As wound starts to heal, it may itch. Don't scratch. Apply cortisone cream to relieve itching. It you are cutting yourself, or otherwise injuring yourself, please see a doctor. If you have a family doctor, you may want to start there. If no doctor, perhaps seek a psychiatrist. If you are hurting yourself, you are probably in pain. Sometimes people who are depressed cut themselves, perhaps in an effort to define their pain. Don't be embarrassed. Get well.
