Not drunk. Clear headed. Thinking straight. I don't drink, so "I" don't ever have to worry about "sober."

it is kind of like being in the state of mind when you can comprehend that "you are" is represented by "you're" not "your".

BTW, I would not consider myself totally "sober" in the traditional sense at the time of this answer. : )

Not drunk, high or under the influence of some type of chemicals. Nobody likes a drunk except another drunk and you certainly can't have a conversation with one.

'sober' is more pejorative than 'drunk'.

it's like: dull, un-alive, etc

It hardly connotes razor-sharp rational faculties.
