Some students come from dysfunctional homes, no father in the home, parents that drink too much or do drugs, parents that fight all the time. Some kids live in poverty and often do not get enough to eat nor do they have appropriate clothing for the season. It is hard to concentrate on school when you are worried and wondering about a chaotic home life.

For nearly three generations teachers, psychologists, sociologists, and some doctors have equated discipline with punishment. In their zeal to do away with abusive punishments (which did exist, sometimes to great extent), they did away with discipline. Poor behavior was tolerated, and sometimes even encouraged, in the name of protecting the fragile psyche of the child.

the student does not understand the lesson. or maybe the student is really tired and bored and he/she don't find the subject interesting. It is a good idea that a teacher will give a game or an energizer before he/she start his/her lesson.

Spare the rod and spoil the child. I believe in this. I teach kids at home and have noticed tht acting friendly and free with them makes them less inclined to study and more towards mischief

poor student behavior in class is the result of having a teacher who does not mind what is going on as long as he/she gets his/her salary. it is what we call as "the i don't care attitude".

....having busy parents that they forgot to attend to their kids' needs--proper checking of how school assignments get done, pushing too hard the kid to do things (projects/shool assignments, seatwork & short quizzes) perfectly that parents compare themselves w/ their children & pretend that they were very good (both in academics & extra curricular activities) in their era.......
