My mom was telling me that when Kentucky Fried Chicken first came out the food was really good and everything was home made. I bet if Col. Sanders was alive today, he would be raising hell for what has happened to his restaurants. KFC is a disgrace to traditional southern cooking, which is what it was originally intended to be.

I don't know where they get the anorexic pigeons but they use too much greasy breading on them.

Long ago and far away Arbys Roast Beef was also good.
Now it is like beef flavored spam.

Yes, when I first had it was in Florida and it was a brand new discovery. No crispy - just original - the real thing. Big nice pieces, cooked to perfection.

I wish the colonel could have taken a bite of the KFC I got the other night. It was beyond disgusting. The crust was shriveled up like it had been cooked about 12 hours before, the pieces were tiny and stringy. Of course, as usual, the thighs were red at the bone!

I just quietly decided I will never go there again. The thing is there are just not many good workers in those places.

Do you ever wonder when you see them outside, emptying the garbage and talking on their cell phone and smoking if they will really wash their hands when they go back to cook?? Nasty!!!!

Yes, I remember when the first Colonel Sanders retaurant with it's "finger licking good" fried chicken first opened their doors in our Cincinnati, Ohio suburb. The fried chicken was delicious and made an unknown Kentucky Colonel on Social Security a multi-millionaire at age 65 years. The mashed potatoes and gravy were also scrumptious and tasted home made.

Now, it has all gone down the tubes. Good thing the colonel is not around to see it, cause you're right: "he would be raising hell."

I still go get me a KFC fried chicken dinner about once a year just to remind me just how bad it's become, and to yearn for the good old days when chicken tasted like chicken and not like freeze-dried salamanders from the black lagoon.

Cheers!

The Col. did have good chicken way back when, but like everything else in this life time, selling out has hurt the business. I got some KFC that taste like fried fish, I think it had cornmeal on it. Now that's the worst KFC I've ever got. I'm stickin to home cookin finger lickin chicken.

Yep I am. Miss it.

The grave was great, used to order a side of grave just for the GREAT biscuits and to dip the chicken in, now well it helps keep the potato flakes warm. Don't know where they're getting their chickens, small, greasy, almost meatless. But that's what you get when you want cheap birds and don't worry about quality.

I used to go two or three times a month, now maybe once or twice a year. If only they worried more about the quality, they would find people would pay a little more, but I guess this is what you get when accountants run a business.

So sad

i am old enough to remember when it was a real treat to get "Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken" as it was called way back in the day, and i totally agree with you that the KFC's are a disgrace to the ol' Col.

Can you believe this one? one Sunday afternoon our family went to our local KFC for lunch, they could not fill our order because and this is no word of a lie, they were out of CHICKEN!

KFC used to be good. I use to love it as a kid. My 6-year old loves chicken, but hates KFC. Too much breading and too salty in different bites. The chicken is rubbery.

And to all of you who are on this "genetically raised mutant animal" kick, grow up. "Oh, the evil corporation is tricking us into eating scientifically altered animals for better profit" If you believe that, watch "Motel Hell" - you will never eat jerky again. Do your research:

Another reason for their name change besides the ones listed in the above article was the then Governor of Kentucky imposed a "small fee", due to the state, for using the word "Kentucky" in any public name, sign, song, etc. At the time, KFC had 10,000 establishments world wide. Neil Diamond stopped singing "Kentucky woman" to avoid this fee. It has since been repealed.

I can't really trace the history of KFC because we only ate there a little bit when I was little (I'm 26 now). I don't know that it's necessarily gone downhill or not. They're basically there to make money. KFC was scooped up by Pepsi at some point -- did that have something to do with it? Taco Bell and Pizza Hut were bought up too -- are they worse?

That is very true it has been a long time since I have eaten KFC. You know it seems as if the longer a fast food restaurant is in business the worse they get as the years roll by. KFC is disgusting now nothing is the same.
