History, no matter how badly it reflects on your country, should be recorded. Individuals learn life lessons by their errors, so do nations.

History is not mathematics, there is a lot of different ways how you can explain things, you do not to have to delete something from the history books. For instance, I am Portuguese, the Portuguese were the first European to have colonies in Africa. We get told in school how such great sailors we were, which is true, but we are not told that these sailors earned their money with things like catching the native Africans and selling them in Europe. Though we did not invent slavery, we did gave it a new impulse in the 16th Century. And that is only an example. When I look into my old history books sometimes I do not know if I should laugh or cry. It takes a lot of guts to tell the truth, and every country has its darker bits of history, but I do believe that it is our responsibility that such episodes are not forgotten. A good example of that is the way Germany deals with its memory of WW II, the other countries could learn from it.

No, if other countries are reminded about the bad events that
occured during their history, then all countries should. Yes,
those events happened, as well as Kent State, Watts Riots,
and other things that don't paint the USA in a positive light,
but it happens. History happens, and it should be recorded,
no matter how bad or good it is. This would be like a criminal
getting a pardon, or having his record stricken clean. It still doesn't take away from the fact the events happened. If you strike it from the history books, your country is in denial, or perhaps taking an important part of history. This could be construed as a form of censorship.

McCarthy used to be proper approximately communists being within the State Department and different most sensible posts. Information published after the autumn of the USSR confirms it. Joe the Plumber used to be a plumber; the plumbing organization has the license now not the plumber you fool. Congratulations you have been the final to understand. He has on account that moved directly to a bigger paying activity, some thing so that it will certainly not occur to you. Leftist generally tend to take a look at to difference historical past to fit their reason. Or they're simply cowardly little punks such as you that block any person that disagrees with them.

The truth should always be the only side presented.

However we don't seem to always be able to find the truth. Maybe because things are complex and have more than one side or point of view? So perhaps we should make it a point to present at least 2 sides and let history sort it out.

I wonder if it would make any difference?

no, they show your countries history and trying to erase apart of history that cast a bad light on you really minimizes the group that was done wrong. It erases their history also diminishing the role the perpetrator played in it. We should not alter history because it makes us look bad, it shows that the course of action taken was wrong and should not be attempted again, serving as a model to learn from.

It is said that history is written by the victors, and they put their twist of reality on the events that had occurred. I always thought that history should be about what actually happened and not what "they" want you to think happened. I think that future generations should learn both the good and the bad of the country.

No. I don't care how embarrasing something is, everyone should have the right to know - especially if it involved our tax dollars.
