If you read more than just the box, you'd know that the song time isn't the only factor. It also has to do with the quality of the songs, the bitrate/kbps whatever it's called.
Mine holds 436.

it rather relies upon on what your possibilities are. i in my view think of the ipod touch is the extra helpful determination considering the fact which you're able to do a lot with it it has exciting apps you are able to play with and you may get onto your social networks . The ipod nano is large for recording movies. The ipod classic is surely classic you pay attention on your song and stuff so in case you like a worry-loose ipod then the classic is a thank you to circulate. The itouch is likely one in each and every of the terrific nevertheless.

If I remember correctly, they always give you the maximum amount of data the hard drive can hold. It would indeed be 2gb, but after the software is installed, you're left with 1.78 to work with. Same goes for a hard drive on the computer. Even if it's advertised as 80gb for example, you might actually have 74gb left after installing the OS and important software. Hope that helps.

the thing is , is that ipods are really what the hardrive says it is, the only thing is , is that they have save the application of itunes and all the fancy stuff. basically they have to save the set up somewhere. so they save it on the hardrive. Assuming that songs are 4 minutes that is how many should fit but alot of songs are over 4 minutes.
By the way, that is with all mp3 players, they all do that.

Yeh its just an average of time cause not all songs are that long some are short. Also the memeory like the games and stuff need to be pu on so that takes space. I warn you about the short battery though,

Here's the thing about iPods. Their capacity is not the actual amount it says on the box. My 30GB says 30GB. But for real it's 27.57GB. So, you won't be able to put really 500 songs on it.

Of course. The 2 gigabytes is taken up by the programming on the ipod. (Menus and that sort of thing.) Normally, it would not take up nearly that much room, but Apple does not have great software...

every hard drive or flash drive will not give you the full storage capacity. Now for the songs, if you want to hold more, then reduce the encoding to128 kbp or less.
