Another user's question prompted mine, because I have noticed that we tend to most like the characters that we most stongly relate to. It is one of my favorite questions to ask, as it usually is accurate in telling me something about that person. Is that true of you & your characters that you chose? One of my workplaces, I took my own little survey,and had accurately pre-guessed all my co-workers answers except for one. She favored Eyore, and that was a surprise.

I think you're right that we tend to like best the characters we most closely identify with - well, characters we either identify with, or -wish- we could be like, I do find that I have a number of cartoon character favorites that I love 'coz they exemplify qualities that I -wish- I had ... Having said that, my favorite Looney Tune & WtP characters are Wile E. Coyote and Tigger =) Wile E. because he NEVER gives up no matter how many times the universe smacks him down, no matter HOW clear it is that the universe just doesn't -want- him to succeed ... and Tigger because, darn it, he's just so unapologetically, unabashedly enthusiastic. We should all be so lucky =)
