i cant view to open my external hard drive which when new i saved a lot of stuff on it now it wont let me in it is on the device manager though but does not show as a drive on my computer

ow man i had the same problem with my external hard drive and i also asked the question on yahoo as you did, and i also viewed the others questions about external hard drive...... and the all the answers i read were lame and doll telling me to pay to get information from the hard drive and so on.
Well, after making a good research on the internet i found the good program that helped me to recover info from my hard drive 100% After i recoverd info from hard dirve to another hard drive i formatted non-working hard dirve and now it works really really good.
Ok the name of the program is EaseUs DataRecoveryWizard Pro 2.0 or 3.0

Have you checked device manager for the correct drivers and/or troubleshooting.

What happens when you open it? You have to provide an error message or a problem.
