Before I was born my mom had a miscarriage, (lucky I came into this world). Anyway, she didn't have sex with my dad at all when she found out she was pregnant with me, but she did have sex with him when she was pregnant before she had the miscarriage. So, just wondering, can sex affect a pregnancy? Also, up until what point of a pregnancy can you have sex?

During a normal pregnancy sex is considered safe up until you go into labor. If a woman was at risk for preterm labor, the recommendation might be made to avoid orgasm and/or sex altogether.
The great majority of miscarriages occur because of a major problem with the embryo, like a defect that is not compatible with life. Chance are, sex did not cause your mom's miscarriage, and the lack of it in your case most likely had no affect on your being born healthy. One in four pregnancies results in miscarriage (often before a woman knows shes pregnant), that is just the luck of the draw.

As long as the pregnancy is not high risk meaning you have mitigating complication) sex is quite safe throught out pregnancy up until you lose your musuc plug which leaves the uterus open to bacteria which could cause an infection...

During pregnancy especially during the last couple months you may need to try positions other than the missionary position due to your belly getting in the way... Try spoons position, doggy style, and her on top... all are easy to do an put your belly out of the way...

Sex during pregnancy can be really wonderful and liberating as you can have all you want with no worries about getting pregnant...

Obviously if its painful try a new position or less vigor and enjoy it's can't harm the baby who is nicely packaged in a water cushioned enviroment for baby the motion is nothing more than being rocked to sleep....

I have just become pregnant and all of my information says that sex is totally fine during pregnancy. Now if you had some previous miscarriages I think they may tell you to refrain until you are past your 3rd month, but usually you do not cause a miscarriage, it is a chromosomal abnormality. Toward the end of your pregnancy I don't think you are supposed to have sex because it can cause the uterus to contract which can cause you to deliver too early.

Sex isn't linked to miscarriage, unless you are having a high risk pregnancy and on bed rest. And u can have sex all the way up to the delivery room with no problems.

If a person has a low risk healthy pregnancy you can have sex all throughout the pregnancy without hurting the baby. When a woman gets pregnant that is something she should discuss with her doctor because every woman is different.

With a healthy pregnancy, sex is safe. My brother in law was freaked out about sex with his wife when she was pregnant, like he would 'get too close' to the baby. I assured him that it's unlikely that he'll hit the cervix, and that even if he did, it was closed tight and on the other side of it the baby was padded and protected by the placenta.

I guess there's something in semen that can trigger labor late in the pregnancy, but it never worked for me. ;)

no having sex during pregnancy will not cause a miscarriage, unless you are in critical condition and the doc sais not to do it. and you can have sex up untill you go into labor. having sex in the last trimester can help go into labor.

Sex isn't supposed to affect pregnancy, and I've heard you can have sex up until you go into labor, unless your doctor advises otherwise.

You have sex all throughout theegnany..they just recommened that in your last trimester, don't have an orgasm. Although, personally, I found in the last trimester it was almost impossible anyways with a belly that big! Sex won't hurt the baby. the only reason you should stop is if your doctor tells you to!
