Chicago pending where you go is by far the number one, pending on what part of the city you are in. Harvey and south suburbs, as well as Springfield, Peoria, Rockford, Joliet, Elgin, and Aurora are big cities, which have lower income areas I would recommend avoiding.Maywood is another city I recommend avoiding. I read alot of people talking about East St Louis. Its a small, abandoned city, I think its easy to attack something from a far. Personally most people leave the city and the only reason you may drive through is if you are lost, wanna go to a strip club, or looking for drugs, if your none of the 3 you don't go there. Someone dies in Chicago everyday and 17 people died in East St Louis in 2012. You do the math

Well chitown and the suburbs are pretty dangerous. Cicero (not sure if i spelled that right) is pretty dangerous.
