I am moving from Texas which with humidity is so much hotter than Arizona! Heat is not the issue---well as it relates to temps!!!!

Well, I like Prescott a lot better. Has a mild winter and a mild summer. Both much milder than Texas. However, Glendale is good. You can tolerate the heat if you are from Texas. Along with Glendale are great areas of Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert , Apache Junction and so on and so on. I would go for Prescott myself.

You did not say were you are moving from. You must already know that it is hot 24-7 in the summer. Glendale is the new rapidly growing area that I pass by on the freeway when traveling from California to points east. Be sure that the home you rent-or buy has an evaporative cooler as well as A/C.. The cooler is inexpensive to operate on hot dry days. If you have to run only A/C all summer it will cost you more that the rent per month. Good luck on your new start.. Life goes in chapters.

I guess it also depends on how much you are looking to spend housing and how far out of town are you wanting to live. I live in North Scottsdale and it gets pretty expensive here but I really love the area. Glendale has some parts of town that aren't the best, but that goes for any town though right? If you are looking for a slower paced environment, I'd suggest Chandler, Gilbert and Ahwatukee. Tempe is more of a college kid area and has high traffic.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Sixteen years I have lived in the East Valley-Mesa, Chandler area. I never liked anything on the West side of Phoenix, including Glendale.

I live on the edge of glendale, in a good part, like someone said before, make sure its north of Thunderbird. but glendale is nice, I notice a little more traffic in glendale than in other parts of Phoenix metro area, but its tolerable. glendale is one of the better suburbs of phoenix.

I was born in Glendale. Well, that was 36 years ago, so this isn't really helping. Sorry.
