Is it something they have to do on their own? Can you just beat them / knock some sense into them? what will it take, Confrontation (tried that, didn't work)? Call the cops on them?

It almost seems like wasted energy trying to talk to them.

I've known of a person personally who killed his own wife because he told her to hold his money and not give it to him when he asked so he wouldn't buy drugs. She didn't and she's gone. I grew up around many people that used and are still using today over 20 years. There is nothing you can do but save yourself and walk away. More than likely, you've been telling them to leave it alone and they know the consequences. It's up to them. Don't be a victim and get your heart broken watching them kill themselves. THEY HAVE TO WANT TO STOP! Then you can help them by offering them information on different treatment programs. But until they want help, there is nothing you can do.

Praying is not going to work. Action will need to taken by the user, if they don't want to quit they are not going. I don't recommend knocking sense into them. When a person is tweaking they can become very violent. Meth is a very dangerous drug that cause severe paranoia, delusions, among many other things. It is also extremely hard to quit. They say something like 85% of people who sober up relapse. The best thing you can do as a friend is to just let them know you are there for them when they are ready. Calling the police will not do anything unless they are going to harm themselves (suicidal) or if they are hurting someone else physically. Be very careful around your friend when they are using. If they are tweaked the paranoia will completely take over them. They are not in control of what they do at all anymore.
Talk to the person other friends and family if at all possible. An intervention is sometimes helpful, not when they are tweaking though, preferably when they are coming down.

Speaking from experience, pills being my choice of medium, an addict wont get help until they are either ready, or they hit rock bottom. For some people rock bottom is the loss of a job, or family support, and others it is living on the street begging drug money. Until that person is ready to quit, they wont.
If you think it might help, you can contact your local chapter of Narcotics Anonymous and somebody there will be glad to talk to you, and the meth addicted person. The first step is admitting the problem, and seeking professional treatment from there. If you don't have any luck with NA, much of the time we addicts are more comfortable dealing with Alcoholics Anonymus. People from all walks of life attend the meetings, and will be more than happy to help you, the person you are trying to help, and they can get you to a meeting that will give both of you some direction. I wish you the best in your quest for sobriety for your loved one. The road is not an easy one to travel.

You can only get that person off of meth if that person wants to and you will know when they really want to dont give them any slack. It is their choice to do meth, and they must answer for it. I have been through the same thing with my best friend. When I gave her a little rope (figuratively speaking), all she did was hang herself. She still has yet to totally ween herself off of meth, but you have to bear in mind POSITIVE REINFORCMENT!! You have to stand strong and show a little tough love. YOu dont have to help them everytime and make sure they know exactly why you are not helping them: because they wont help themselves. The best advice I have for you is stay strong and by their side. Be a good role model and soon they will want to be more like you and they will realize. JUST BE STRONG!!

Ok I am a christian (Apostolic with the faith in Jesus Christ)
there is a story in the bible about a man who was filled with a bad spirit and the apostles tried to deliver him and couldent then Jesus stepped on the scene he said that these kind of spirits only come out with fasting and prayer

so what I am saying is this is a strong hold
and if this person excepts God into their life
and asks God to set them free God will but sometimes the spirits are strong and you will need fasting and prayer for this person
look in the yellow pages find an Apostolic church or a united Pentacostol Church (UPC)
ask for prayer someone will help you

THE FDC AND 90% OF WORLD WOULD LIKE AN EASY ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION....
THERE ISN'T ONE.

EACH PERSON IS DIFFERENT.

POLCE WILL NOT INTERVENE WITHOUT AN INVOLUNTARY COMMITTMENT FORM TO BE EVALUATED BY HOSP ECT FOR 24 TO 72 HOURS. YOU CAN GET ONE IF YOU ARE SPOUSE OR PARENT OF PERSON ON METH FROM A MAGISTRATE ECT. I DID THAT AND PSY EVAL RECOM PERSON FOR FURTHER PSY REVIEW AND TAHT TOOK 44 DAYS TOTAL. SO THE SYSTEM WORKED FOR ME..

IT DOESN'T FOR EVERYONE.

JUST KEEP PRAYING AND GETTING INVOLVED.

METH IS LIFE THREATENING.

Send to rehab or call the cops....it took being arrested for me to get clean, I was a big coke head and pot head, now I'm clean 2.5 years.

It also took the help of NA (www.na.org) and the faith in God that graced me.

No one will stop anything unless they want to. We can't choose other peoples actions, only our own. There is not much anyone can do in this situation. Let them be and karma will stop them in one way or another.

I say do an intervention and try to get them to go in to rehab... I think it would be to much to handle all on your own if you try to dry them out with out medical attention.
