I think regrets will always be a part of you happy or not..true happiness comes when those regrets have morphed..meaning they kind of change shape from being a "thorn in your side" into a teaching aide..learning from those mistakes that caused the regret in the first place..and showing you what not to do in the future to avoid making those same mistakes and having regrets

Regret is something you feel after you've done something wrong, whether it is to yourself or others. Happiness is something you feel after you forgiven yourself for those wrongdoings. You can also feel happiness for many other reasons that have nothing to do with regret and forgiveness. Therefore, regrets are not an integral part of true happiness because feeling regret is not always necessary in order to feel happiness.

No to the first, and yes to the second. We learn from our mistakes, it is an integral part of our learning process. Without regretting our past actions, we could not appreciate life and have happiness.

I don't think you have to have regrets to be happy, it just seems to work out that way. It is that along the way to finding out what truly makes us happy, most of us have made some wrong turns along the way. If you can learn from experience, you need not regret mistakes. So it is not that regrets are necessary or intrinsic; they are incidental and educational.

Happiness has nothing to do with regrets. Regrets happen when you are no longer happy and wish you were.

I think you need to experience regret to celebrate happiness. If your emotions stayed the same, how would you feel the elation of happiness?
