My friend said that she went for a doctor's visit and the doctor said that her cervix is open, which may result in her not to give birth. She never had an abortion or have given birth? What is the best cure for her? What can she do? Will it ever be possible in the future for her to get pregnant?

Your friend is lucky, because her doctor knows about her condition (incompetent cervix, what an icky thing to call it!). Many women do not find out until they have a miscarriage. If she knows ahead of time, she can get pregnant just fine if there are no other problems. Once she is pregnant, she can have a simple operation to stich her cervix closed.

My sister in law has a short cervix and got pregnant. Her doctor thought her cervix would be long enough, but at 16 weeks, when the weight of the baby started to stretch things out, they decided to put her on bed rest -- at that point her cervix was clearly not long enough! She just had her baby this morning, only a few weeks short of full term and she and the baby are in fine health! So this is certainly not a condition to prevent someone from getting pregnant and having a baby. Good luck to your friend!

she may have was is called "incompetent cervix", which means her cervix may not support the pressure of hold a baby for 9 months. The only thing she can do is try. She may get pregnant, lose a baby, possibly multiple times. If the doctors think the cervix has played a role in the miscarriage, they can put a stitch in it to hold it shut. This will usually work. I wish her all the luck in the world.

Your friend might have a condition called incompetent cervix, where the cervix is not strong enough to hold a baby to term. That is easily fixed by a quick operation where the doctor will stitch the cervix closed.
