To be a mom? A friend of mine asked me and I just couldn't find the words. I'm not trying to be to sappy I just want to know how others describe being a mom. The way I see it for me it filled a void I didn't know I had... What are your thoughts? And Dads too. What does a Dad feel?

I think it is like that first crush you have in junior high school...when every little thing that your crush does you think is so cute and wonderful...but multiply that by 10 thousand. You look down on their sweet face and just can't believe that you love someone that much.
I think for my husband...his first feeling when he met our son...was just awe and overwhelming pride.

Every other experience I've had in life could be compared to something else or described using concepts that everyone understands. There is no metaphor for being a parent. It is the one experience that is truly unique and unlike anything else you go through.

I could never have imagined loving someone uncontrollably with every fiber of my being, feeling responsibility for him in every inch of my body, and being frustrated with him almost beyond my ability to cope, all at the SAME TIME.

It's the one emotion that cannot be exaggerated, overrated, or hyped beyond the truth.

To me can not describe,, it is all good. I can not come up with words, to tell you,,there is nothing in the world like it. I feel so blessed, that I was chosen to be a mom. I hope I will always live up to what the word mother or mom means.

well i can tell you i became a mom at the age of 20 and i wasn't really into him, not that i din't want him or love him or take care of him, i wasn't really ready in my life, i was in an abusive realationship with my husband and was not happy, and pretty much took care of him all by myself, well then i got a muscel diesase and they said that i couldn't have anymore children and from that point on i knew i had missed out on something i couldn't ever get back, well 5 years later i remarried and on our honeymoon got pregnant they said i would carry it to term so i didn't get to attached, but 8 months later i had a beatiful baby girl (Aleyiah) 7 3oz 20 inches and now being older and not thinking i could ever have children again has made me cherish every single moment with her, i work with her everyday, don't take her for granted, and make sure i don't miss things this time, but also it has made me look at my son different to, you get to a point when you finally grow up inside to, and your whole world changes, you go from wanting things for yourself and thinking about your self to giving things up so your kids can have things and you become someone that they look up to like a hero and if you ever won anything and felt like on top of the world well this is even better, when you look at your child and he says your the best mom in the whole world thats better than any material thing you could have

the best way to describe being a mom is that you cannot be selfish anymore. you cant sleep in when you want. you cant just get up and say oh i think im going to go to the mall real quick and get those boots i want. you have to be ready and willing to give up your past and ready to devote 95 percent of your time to that baby. there are so many times when you are tired and feel like you cant do anything else and all you want to do is be alone. thats what its been like for me. i was so used to just picking up and going wherever and whenever i pleased even out with my girlfriends just to have a drink or go out dancin or go to the movies which i LOVE to do.
BUT I HAVE TO SAY DESPITE ALL OF THAT ITS WORTH THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE THAT YOU GET IN THE END OF THE DAY. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR CHILD LOOKS AT YOU WITH THOSE EYES AND THAT SMILE, ALL YOU CAN DO IS CRY BECAUSE YOU KNOW THAT HE OR SHE IS YOUR FLESH AND BLOOD. AND EVEN THE FUN TIMES WHEN THEY LAUGH AT THE LITTLEST THINGS YOU DO. IT MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED SINCE SLICED BREAD. SHE IS THE REASON I HAVE TO SMILE EVEN WHEN SHE MAKES ME FEEL LIKE PULLING MY HAIR OUT. GOOD LUCK.

Pretty much like you said, it fills a void you didnt know you had. Kinda like putting a little more air into a full balloon, you thought it was full, but there was still room.
