Hard to tell - these things can be so tricky. Do you think someone installed it on your computer?? I would take it to Circuit City or something - apparently they can do things to clean it and they would know this answer I am sure. Otherwise, try to go to a site where there is a form about computer viruses and see if you can ask someone.

The most common way is if you get crazy pop-ups on your web browser. These can be easily removed by updating your internat explorer to the latest version, and set your privacy settings to medium or above. Disable all pop-ups.
Also put a password on your computer's cmos and windows.
If the person that installed your spyware can't access the information they have wasted they're time.
Frankly, I think it's kinda egocentric to think you are important enough to spy on. You sure you are not just paranoid?

Run your spyware program at least once a week. Internet Explorer has a free one that you can download and they will remove all spyware. You also can check whether you want to leave low level, medium level, or high level on your computer. It is called Windows Defender. I love it. It cleans everything associated with spyware, not viruses. You have to get a virus removal program for that. If you have ATT Yahoo, they have a free program.
Good luck.
