I don't believe that it does. Two of my best friends are 15 years, and 27 years older than me, respectively. It is all about the common bond, not the age.

Define friendship and who you want to be friends with. Male vs female 20year plus age difference , yeah that matters. Same thing for the cougars with the young men, it's just gross and exploitive and no matter how you rationalize it it's just wrong.

If on the other hand you're speaking generally about friendships, I have friends who are older than I am and friends who are younger. So in that respect no age doesn't matter.

I am 34 years old and my very best friend is twice my age. She tells everyone I am her 2nd daughter. I think if a person is lucky enough to find another person they can bond with and consider a friend...they are very fortunate! Age shouldn't matter.

Well, frankly speaking, there is a lot of people finding it hard to have a friend whom age gap with him is slightly bigger. However, that is normally in the case where they feeling that there is no common topic between them. I personally feel that as long as there's a common topic between the two who are having a great age gap, there is still a possiblilty that they can become great friends. In chinese, there's such word called 忘年之交 wang nian zhi jiao, meaning great friends who don't differentiate themselves by their age[normally in the case where there is a age gap.]

No, I don't think so. I have plenty of friends that range from 6 to 80. I think friendships can be had with basically anyone.

Not at all unless you are talking about a 20+ year old male/female trying to "befriend" a child, which I dont believe is what your question is about- but having friends of many different generations is not only enlightening to you but to them also. The world is a big place with many different people - embrace it!

Not at all. Most of my friends are 10 years older than me.

If you've got a wide range of friendships, it can only increase your learning.
