Why did the Americans think they could foster their brand democracy in a region of the world where it wasn't necessary or even desired; at least the western version of it.(democracy) . You know I was wondering about the same thing when I thought of a musical part called a castrata or castrati . I thought who would volunteer to be castrated to keep singing higher. The answer was no one, it must be a parent, sponsor or priest who decided for a young boy to not go on to manhood. What the new world order of 1776 said that the individual does matter. I know sometimes it has been slowly but we evolve into fairer people, it is still a work in progress and Bush has set us back I was looking at what Ron K said and he was right. Too me Europe, especially Spain, Portugal , France and Holland devastated North America and South America's resources during the 1500's and 1600's. How can anyone who has read their history have the gall to object to America????Cossacks, Nazi's , Russians, Romans, Spartans have been beating the crap out of anyone they could for 1000's of years. The ancient physict, Hero worked with steam but guess why it wasn'tused, they had cheap slave labor. Anyone who wants to make the world better cannot deny that we at least try.

A little bit of each. But since Europeans did the same thing in Africa and the America's hundreds of years ago I guess that would make you stupid, arrogant, and naive. We all see the mess Africa is in today because of the "Scramble for Africa" by the Europeans. So don't judge all Americans by what "some" are doing. I've been against this war from the beginning, but I alone can't stop the government from doing what it wants to do. Don't judge all Americans by what a few do! That's like me judging you for what your ancestors did in Africa, Asia, and the America's hundreds of years ago!

I agree, but on one point i disagree.
USA isn't racist.
The most racist countries are countries where everyone there is the same race, such as Korea, or China, or even Some Eastern Countries. For instance...If you can be killed for what you say, or your religious beliefs, and everyone around you is the same race as you...then you are in a racist region.
If I stand on a street corner in the USA I can see people from 100 cultures at a glance...this is therefore the opposite of racism, which is called..."FREEDOM".

Why did Europeans think they were so advanced and enlightened that they believed it was right to exploit people all over the world for hundreds of years in order to satisfy their egotistical belief in their innate superiority? AKA colonialism. Aaand at the root of most of the overseas problems of our modern world.........Palestine, Iraq, Africa in general, India, Pakistan, Indochina etc. If it wasn't for European arrogance most of these problems wouldn't even exist. Actually I sometimes think we in North America should have let you people stay under the Nazi yoke for a generation or two, then people like you might have a little empathy for those who fought and died for an ideal....freedom for your dumb ***. And yes, members of my family came over the ocean in two wars to try and help and for what? So people like you can whine and carp and complain?
