Not true. Do some research. If you are actually looking at the right places, you will find out that most countries tax from 25% to 60 % of an average workers total gross yearly wages.
As for the giving of "it all to 1% of people" that is quite ridiculous .

As for what happens- what happens is --life goes on. The taxation base, which are workers bet 16 yr olds and 70 yr olds, and corporations big and small, will still be paying their taxes and making this country's infrastructure run. And thats the way life is. The toiling taxpayer is the beast of burden, and God bless all of us.

Your question is fatally flawed.

The federal government taxes less than 60% of the people, many (i.e. the lower 40% in terms of income) don't pay taxes at all.

The upper 1% continues to generate income by providing goods and services that the general population chooses to consume.

Learn some basic economics.

Depending on what tax bracket you are in, you will pay between 45 and 55 percent of your income. Thats income tax FICA and all that jazz plus sales tax depending on what state you live in. And don't forget property tax. Even if you rent, your land lord figures your rent with property tax in mind. So in total you can pay a lot in taxes. Just out of curriosity, who is the 1% you refer too? I think its a bit more than that. I'm sure that more than 1% of the USA is on welfare and food stamps and medicade etc. Lets not forget the free lunch program in the public schools. I think your numbers are way way off.
