You probably did not clean the piece of pipe going into the fitting well enough and there is an area with no solder that the water is going through. You need to take the joint apart and redo it more carefully - more cleaning and more flux.

To get a good solder joint you need to do the following:

1> Make sure that the pipe is sanded down very clean, to a bright copper finish - both the outside and inside where the pipes join.
2> Apply flux to the joint.
3> Get the joint hot BEFORE adding solder. Remember that the solder must melt from the heat of the pipe, not the flame of the torch.
4> Make sure that the solder is sucked up into the joint.
5> Wipe off the joint with a rag while it is still hot.
6> Look over the joint, making sure that there are no gaps or holes in the solder.
7> Before doing any of this, make sure that there is no water in the line. Water will not allow the joint to heat up properly.

You need to make sure the pipe and the joint are completely clean. There can be no water in the pipe as well. Heat the pipe and joint together then touch the solder at joint. The heat should cause the solder the flow around the joint

Did you drain the pipe in the area that you soldered? It's difficult - if not impossible - to solder a pipe that has water in it.

you HAVE to use flux... if you dont it will leak...
brush flux on the pipe and the fitting...
put them together and start heating them up... making sure you heat it on all side evenly
keep tapping the solder on the joint to see if its hot enough for the solder to melt...
when it does put solder all the way aroung it and youll see it suck into the joint...
thats it... i did half my house... and i didnt have one leak
good luck

The word is "solder."

Get somebody that knows what they're doing.
