you can do that or you can take the AC compressor off and put on a dummy pulley or bypass pulley which just allos the belt to take the same pattern and doesnt serve and purpose other than keeping your belt on track... A dummy pulley will cost about 15-30 buck and very easy to put on

Cops have been selling their old cars to people for decades. It's not that hard to see the old cop cars, because some still have the blanked out decals on sides. You've already experienced one problem with having the car as it is, the cops are attracted to you. But the other side of getting the attention is that bad people may think you're a cop and try and do something to you. There are people that hate cops, and if they think you're one, they might just try to run you off the road, or at worst, shoot at you. I had a friend who bought a used Kawasaki 1000 cop cycle, still had the lights on it. (Okay to have the lights, just not use them.) And he was almost run off the road by someone who thot he was a cop. So it can happen, I dont' know if it happens frequently tho'. It would be best if you could make it a diff color so that you won't get confused with real cops. It's still hard to see normal Crown Vics that are all white, because they still look like an unmarked cop car. The biggest diff is a normal Crown Vic doesn't have the special spotllights on windows that cops do. So if you like all black, that might be a possibility. Unfortunately, in my town, the county sheriffs cars are all black. So sometimes you just can't win. But in your area, it's best to try and change the car enough to it won't be confused for cops. But it's probably kinda fun on freeway to see people giving you lots of room and letting you thru, thinking you're a cop!!

you can do that on some cars, not exactly sure if this is one. i would use a piece of rope to run around the pulleys and measure how long the new belt would be. you will also be able to tell if the routing will work this way. sometimes they also so idler pulley assemblies that can replace the ac compressor and use the same belt.

Dorman Products are manufacturing a few ac eliminator brackets with pulleys for cars They allow the use of the original belt. But another thought on the same subject, the Ac is not only put inthe car for your comfort it is also used to remove moisture from the interior ie. inside glass,Powertrain control module(computer in your car) it hates moisture!!!!!! diffently worth getting it fixed right
