I weighed 120 in May this year. Now, I weigh around 108. For a few months, I had my period (I started in '04) every month. Then, I weighed 112, and my periods stopped. Normaly, I would not get my period every month, then I started too. Then, it quit. I haven't had it since about April or May. Is this normal? Or, is somthing wrong with me? I don't like my period, I HATE it as a matter of fact; I couldn't care less if it NEVER came back--I don't plan on having kids anyway. But, I just want to know if it's normal or not. Also, if I haven't had my period and everything, can I still get pregnant?

P.S. I'm NOT sexually active. Never have been yet, and don't plan on it until I get married.

I don't want to gain weight either. I'm actually trying to get down to 100 for Thanksgiving :).... The problem is, I think I have a little bit of an Overeating Disorder. any ideas on how to loose more weight, and control my problem?

Could be, but it actually sounds like a thyroid problem.

Your periods are irregular and have stopped most likely because or your eating issue. Unless you are less than five feet tall with a small frame, weighing 108 pounds can certainly cause all sorts of hormonal problems. Saying you want to get down to 100 for turkey day and in the same sentence saying you have an OVER eating problem coupled with the fact that your periods have stopped shows that you actually may have an eating disorder or be well on your way to developing one like anorexia or bulemia. (If you find yourself "getting off" on hearing that you certainly need treatment.) You should probably see a GYN about the period issue and definitely discuss your eating concerns with him or her so they can refer you to the appropriate medical professional for help with that. And, BTW, yes you can get pregnant even though you have not had a period recently because you cannot really be sure that you won't happen to ovulate at some point, so you do need to use contraception.

Are you dieting alot lately? Sometimes when a female isn't eating enough or has made some drastic changes in her diet, she suffers the loss of her period. I know because it's happened to me. And sure no period sounds great but actually it can cause harm. Women ages 13 to 23 are developing bone density. If your period changes, sometimes it's due to estrogen changes. If your estrogen balances are disrupted, it could cause an impair in bone formation. I started losing my period at 105. So I'm thinking with your weight being at 108 down from 120 in 6 months you could possibly be suffering the same. Only a doctor can determine through hormone testing. And yes you can still get pregnant because you never know when your body might ovulate again.

It could be a result of your weightloss. When you become to thin your body starts shutting down non-vital systems. Since, reproduction is not terribly important for survival purposes, your body shuts that system down first.

Go see a doctor about your weightloss, to ensure that nothing else is wrong. And to discuss a plan to get you to gain some more weight.

A female has to have a certain amount of body fat to be able to have a period. I don't happen to know what percent that is. You could check with your doctor to be safe.

Lack of body fat can effect your cycle. If you are sexually active still use birth control, you can still get pregnant though it isn't as likely.
