The true story of Santa Claus begins with Nicholas, who was born during the third century in the village of Patara. At the time the area was Greek and is now on the southern coast of Turkey. His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.

It's based on the catholic saint St. Nicolas (en castellan San Claus) anyways he was an early christian who herd of a man in town who couldn't afford to take care of his family so he decided to sell his daughther to prostitution Nicolas herd about this and he came to the mans house at night and put a bag of coins into his home (he worked real hard for the money but he was a just man and didn't want the man to let his daughther sin in that way) anyways so the man was thankful to God and carried on until he ran out of money so he decided to once again sell his daughther to prostitution Nicolas did the same (note this was one year after) then the night he put in the money the man caught him asked him why he was doing this and Nicolas said that he wanted to spare the daughther from sin and so on the man thanked him and he did some other good stuff the town really liked him and elected him Bishop theres more to the story thats the basic ..... then a bunch of dutch protestants who came to america twisted the story of Nicolas to sort of make fun of him and fake him look like a fairy tale and thats how we get santa clause
