I think it was wrong that it ever existed in the first place - and yes it needed to end, but...........

It is interesting to note that when slavery was finally abolished, many newly freed men and women suddenly found themselves without homes, without food and without work.

As such, no small number actually asked the ex-slave owners if they could continue working for them under the same terms as before. This was especially the case where the slave-owner had been one who was reluctant to use the whip and was a more agreeable "master" than most of the others.

That's a hard question to answer.
Every man, regardless of his creed should have the same right as any other man.
The problem with slavery is that one human being owned another human being.
So yes slavery should have been abolished.
However, I must say that the African American culture has developed into a culture that seems to focus on ignorance, violence and crime.
I think behaviors within many cultures are at an embarrassing level.

Uhh... No! Why?
I mean, anyone with half a brain could've told you that! Maybe Reconstruction could've been more planned out, but by the 1870's slavery should've been abolished.

I can't believe that a country would stoop so low to even have slavery in the first place. It should have never been. These people in this country can be really prejudiced to this day, but they don't stop and think that it was "us" who brought them over in the first place.

we haven't! Everyone is a slave to big money, corporations and the government. We are all scared of getting everything we hold dear taken away. The tax man, the police, the government....
It's just another form of Slavery...
If we don't do what we are told , when we are told then we are arrested, beaten and thrown in jail...
Slavery!! It's definately not gone...
Unfortunately people just don't see it!!
