Actually it's 8/7 central. It just means that the show comes on at 8 o'clock, or at 7 o'clock if you're in the central time zone. On the west coast, it's also going to be on at 8 o'clock.

A show will be shown at 7 Mountain time, 8 Central time. You should see it at 7 in California, not at 8.

That's television talk. A show coming on a "seven, eight central time" is coming on a 7PM Eastern and 8PM central time.

By the way, the overwhelming majority of the time you have this backwards, it's going to be 8/7 central -- check and you'll see I'm right. 8PM eastern time is the same as 7pm central time, the networkl can run the show for both time zones. The mountaiun time zone has the craziest TV stations and program start times, there is no general rule except "check your local listings." The Pacific Time Zone, where Los Angeles is, usually waits until the time matches the eastern time zone. So if a show is going to be on TV at "eight, seven central" it will be delayed and appear on your Los Angeles TV at eight Pacific time.

8 is central standard time.
You would be on pacific standard time. There is a three hour lapse. That caused a lot of problems years ago during an election. The people in the West Coast could already tell who the winner was, and it discouraged them from voting.

California is in the pacifiic time zone which is an hour earlier in the day than the central time zone. When something is playing 7pm Pacific and 8pm Central, that means it is playing at the same time for both places.
