maybe you have superficial relationships with them.
open up. take that chance. talk to them about your loneliness. if you can't, then they arent' your real friends or family. if you feel depressed it may be an inbalance in the brain. go to your doctor. if you aren't clinically depressed, maybe try a counselor.
also, you may be the type of person that feels more lonely when they are around lots of people. take a personality quiz.
and make sure to have time to yourself when you can do something that you enjoy, so that life is not such a drag.
if your friends suck, go out there and meet new people. take a yoga class or go to a church.
