Someone recently said that Democrats have become the party of both liberals *and* conservatives. Maybe that's because they're not interested in foreign entanglements, large deficits, reduction of civil rights & reduction of personal privacy. It seems that Republicans are conservatives in name only.

Republicans today will give lip service to conservative issues, but a lot of those issues end up as un-funded mandates. What's happened to the Republicans that's caused them to abandon traditional conservatism for neo-conservative values and agenda? Do you think there's any real chance that Republicans will be real conservatives again, or do you think they've permanently become the party of the neo-cons?

The Noe and Theo Cons have usurped traditional Republican beliefs. You have to wonder what is going on when the John Birch Society is more closely aligned with the Democrats on most issues. Everything bad in the world is Clinton's fault, except for the 8 years of Peace, Prosperity and a Budget surplus.

Yes they have...they talk about smaller government, but I can't believe they actually outspend the democrats. Now the democrats raise corporate money like the GOP. The majority of the people in the middle...you're screwed. George Washington warned all us...avoid political parties and foreign entanglements. Wisdom lost.

Somewhat, but they are light years closer to the Conservatives than the Democrats.

Long time ago. We need to get rid of the RINO's Republicans in name only. So long Chafee, Snow, Collins, Hagel, DeWine, etc.

There are country club, elitist Republicans who despise the religious right as much as liberals do.

Time for Newt to lead the charge again.

They're not true conservatives. They only pander to the religious right for votes and that is all.
