I'm wondering how to repel spiders from coming through a door. I had major problems with these little jumping spiders this summer, and I'm positive they were getting in through the front door because even though it locks securely, it doesn't form a tight seal, and they could slip right through. I would walk in and find 4 or 5 a day right in the entryway. Is there a way to add some kind of rubber thing or seal around my door to keep them out? Or even better, something I could spray to keep them away from the door altogether?

Mothballs placed around the outside of the house is suppost to repell them.
Sodium lamps for porch and outdoor lighting is a great way to save on your energy bill and reduce the number of spiders that find their way into your home chasing the bugs that are attracted to normal "blue wave" lighting.

Osage Hedgeballs, otherwise known as Hedgeapples or Sticky Balls (tee hee!) have been used as a natural spider repellent for a long time, but only in the last few years have they gained more mainstream popularity, even if there is no explanation for why they work. They can be found in the produce section of your local grocery store. If not, ask the manager to order them, they're very cheap and widely available.
Remember, spiders like to eat other bugs. So, if you spray for other pests, you'll diminish the spiders' food supply and make your home a less inviting place to find a meal.

Difficulty: Easy

They are creapy, crawly and give most of us the chills! We find them in those Unexpected and undesired places in our homes. Around the cars. In the Attic. On the Boat even!
So how do we help them decide that where we are, is NOT where they want them to be?

Things You'll Need
plastic spray bottle - garden type
large canning Jar (glass or plastic with lid)
old blender
spiders (fresh and dead)
Water
Pantyhose
Funnel
Instructions
STEP 1: Capture spiders or kill and place in a jar. Get as many as possible from your immediate area as those are the ones you want to repel. 15+ is a good number. STEP 2: Add warm water to the jar so that you have at least 3 cups of water covering.
Cover and swish lightly. STEP 3: Now the tough part.
Pour spiders and liquid into the blender.
Puree on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute STEP 4: Place panty hose (or long cut off toe section) ovee the top of the blender after removing the lid. STEP 5: Place funnel into mouth of spray bottle and slowly pour the blender contents in. This will leave remains in the stocking and allow all liquid to pass to the spray bottle. STEP 6: Discard stocking and place sprayer onto the spray bottle. STEP 7: Mist along all windows, doors, attic vents, porch under roofing, attic spaces, boat spaces -- anywhere you want the spiders to find new places to live.

Normally within a week you'll be virtually if not fully spider free.

I don't know if it's possible, but I used to use "bugs are gone." It's natural and doesn't harm people or pets. Spiders come from lots of places other than the front door. But if that seems to be their entry point for you, I'd spray there every few days and see if it helps. You can get the spray at natural food stores, like "Whole Foods" or Henry's or on line. It costs a little more, but it's non toxic. Good luck. I hate spiders too.

fill in any gaps from your door or walls

if this is a mega problem for u then get your door fixed so that it does close tightly and the seal is there

spiders will always find new ways of getting in i guess but u can at least avoid the amount of big spiders from the main places they should crawl from...

like air vents on walls, corners of walls in rooms, doors, door frames, carpet or flooring , pipes etc etc

it problems persists call the bug fumagater

Im not sure if it will work for spiders or not but Boric acid powder works for all kinds of other bugs. Maybe you could sprinkle some of that around your doorway and baseboards. It is harmful to animals though so if you have pets i dont recommend it or kids either unless they are old enough to not go near it. I feel for you i hate spiders...eeeww....even the harmless ones.
