bein' a long time 007 fan (books and movies)...i can honestly say we will never see a black "james bond"...HOWEVER...i think there's definitely a market for an african american 007 type of film...

I suppose I'm "ready" for one, but I don't want James Bond to be black. He is a character that was already made and played several times. Some of the movies reference other movies, such as when they reference his one love he had. Since the movies have already established that they are connected, they are a story line. Saying that for the time period of a movie or however many he would be played by a black person would be saying that for that period and that period only his skin magically changed from white to black in color and no body, including himself, seemed to notice or care. I don't know about you but if my skin drastically changed like that all of a sudden I would notice. They have however changed his accent and hair color a couple times, but that isn't as drastic a change as a change to a polar opposite skin color.
There can be a black 007, but there can't be a black James Bond, it wouldn't make any sense.

James Bond is not the only agent working for HM's government. Even though he's Ian Fleming's character, still reckon there could be a chinese agent to play 008, a black one to play 009, and so on. But Bond is white, from the original novels, so he should stick to that.

Don't be silly. There is nothing wrong with a black person playing any character, and it can be exactly the same kind of role, but James Bond is a white character. You would have to have a different name for the new character.

James Bond cannot be black because in the books he is WHITE. As much as I love characters that are of other ethnic backgrounds I can't stand when people change the ethnicities of charachters from a book. DON'T FIX SOMETHING THAT AIN'T BROKE!

Is the world ever ready for change???
no!
Sometimes you have to wonder if that change is not really stupid or pushy because it just does not fit in an environment. (ie MOBOS!?!?) Just look at all the arguments involving religions and foreign migration... one needs to think and see the consequences not just look at the consequences and what one wishes.
Somethings are not to be transformed and that is not saying someone's being racist or anti something.

In the books he is white. It would be like a white Shaft. If they ever bring a black bond I wont watch it.

I swear I just thought of this like yesterday!! I don't know...maybe I thought of it because I'm not so sure of this Bond that they picked. But for real...I think we are! I think that an actor like Will Smith or Shemar Moore or Blair Underwood could really do 007 Justice, they are all well established actors with finesse and charm. So yeah...I think we should!
*the idea of diddy being 007 is
RIDICULOUS
*barf*

Interesting question. All the bonds have been white, but some of the villains have been of different ethnicity. I think it would be a great idea. Then again, England is such a racist country, with a long history of treating black brits like crap, that idea may not fly.
Personally, i'm all for it.
