1. he had decided to leave the role after just one series/season, owing to fears that he would become typecast. He denies this.
2.The BBC admitted that they had broken an agreement made in January not to disclose publicly the fact that he only intended to do one season.
3."Overworked" by the BBC, and had left the role because he was "exhausted" - again, denied by the actor who was Christopher Eccleston.

In addition to the previous Dr. Who's contract running out, there is another reason. There have been many different productions of Dr. Who over the years. It's become sort of a tradition for Dr. Who to change his appearance (become a new actor) every few years.

if your on about christopher ecceleston, he left because he didn't want to be type casted, he felt the longer he stayed in that role..the harder it would be for him to do other stuff..hope this is of help..
