I can't believe you got an answer that said "christmas isn't about religion"!! Errrr, hello?!
Many people will disassociate christmas and religion, but the fact remains that they are connected. My husband absolutely hates christmas, and refuses to have anything to do with cards and presents, mainly because he is rabidly anti-religion of any kind. He doesn't stop me enjoying it (I love it!), and he'll eat the dinner as it has no religious connotations, but other than that, he doesn't participate.
it's difficult to take such a hard-line stance, but you should, if you feel strongly enough about it, in my opinion

It's questionable should people celebrate Christmas at all. Jesus never said we should celebrate His birthday (although he gave a lot of advises what to do), so it's questionable even for believers.
You don't have to spend time with your family for Christmas and why would kids be included if you don't have your own? But, it's good to have some happy occasions in a year that will be different from other days. You can make your holiday different from what is usual (like no family, mince pies or christmas tree), find your own way maybe.

I am not religious, my family is loud/obnoxious/rude and kids can wait however... I love christmas! Not because its Jesus' b-day or b/c my family makes it awesome(they don't) I love C-day cause it reminds me of being a kid and having no worries, cold weather, hot chocolate, the smell of a c-mas tree, the lights and just an overwhelming feeling of happiness. Dont know why, but i know neither God nor my family have anything to do with it... So YES! Celebrate any way you want, get trashed, make love or call ur dad and cuss him out for being a dick-wad. Do whatever makes you happy!

Why bother? Christmas is for those who know Jesus and want to celebrate His birth?
Maybe donate your time to a soup kitchen or something, unless you don't like society in general......

christmas is actually a pagan festival it has been hailed as jesus birth because it made it easier to convert the pagans. why not have a party to celebrate the fact that spring is nearly here and to chase away the shadows of winter liuke the pagans did?
or just do what most people do, indulge yourself, get lots of pressies and just celebrate "tacky-mass" with the rest of us atheist shopaholics!

Yeah that's how the pagans really felt so celebrate your day Jesus was born in the Spring anyway.

Christmas doesn't have to be about religion. but since it seems like you have no one to be around this year....don't waste your time....but don't expect anything from anyone else either!

In the words of one of our past Presidents...
"Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
Make Christmas into what you want it to be.
