Will the earth fall downward? If so, what would be pulling it downwards? Please help me, I've thinking about this all-night and never got no sleep, My girlfriend even kicked me out the bed, literally (weep)

Don't forget that large bodies like the earth itself, and the sun, are themselves held together with gravity.

Probably the first thing that we would notice is that the earth would immediately lose its atmosphere as it went flying off the planet into space, as would the oceans. Everything on the surface of the planet would go flying off due to the centrifugal force of its spinning ... buildings would just rip off their foundations like cheese shaking off a cheese-puff. Without an atmosphere, it's doubtful you and I would live more than 15 or 30 seconds.

The earth would immediately break apart in a big cloud of hot liquid iron (the core of the earth) and all the stuff on the surface.

The moon would also disolve into a huge cloud of hot rocks and sand.

The sun would explode rather violently, as the pressure from the burning of the inner core would suddenly have no force counteracting it. The same would be happening to every star and planet in the universe. And galaxies themselves would fly apart (as they too are held together with gravity).

And yes, what is left of the earth would fly away from what is left of the sun ... although it would be quickly overtaken by the exploding sun.

But, of course, it ain't gonna happen. I'll bet everything I own on it. :-)

Think of this as a great way to get back in with your girlfriend ... "Hey baby, if gravity were suddenly to disappear, we need to be holdin' each other really tight!" (You take it from there).

Many things would happen if gravity vanished. The earth and all other planets would fly into space in whatever direction they were traveling at the time. All the atmospheres would rush into space like a popping balloon. The sun and all other stars would do the same, no longer orbiting the center of their respective galaxy's and also heading into space in a straight line.

That's not all. Gravity is the force holding planets and stars together. Without gravity, the earth and all other planets would explode from internal pressure. So would the sun and all other stars. Black holes, they are also held together by gravity. They would come apart with terrific force.

Basically, the entire universe would become separate, floating particles of dust.

Aint gravity grand.

Mahahahaha. Well if gravity all the sudden to disappear. No thing would be holding the Earth together. Every thing would be flying into space. It would probably explode because of all the heat in the Earth, trying to push out ward. But gravity keeps it down. The crust will fly off, the mantel would desinagrate because only gravity holds liquids together. The only remaining part of the Earth would be its core. Because the core is pure metal and solid. And solid metal is held together by metallic bonds not gravity So the it would not be good.

The Earth would stop orbiting the Sun and continue in a straight line at its orbital speed of 66,000 miles per hour, and be far enough from the Sun for all of us to freeze in a few months. Also, everything on Earth not attached to the ground, like cars, people, all the water in all the oceans and lakes and rivers, would just float off into space.

All matter would disintigrate into sub atomic particles and the universe would lose its dimension. It would be like unplugging your TV. All would become black. No light, no thought. The end.

Gravity doesn't just hold you, your girlfriend, your beer, the air, and your screaming cat to the ground. Every cell in your body is a micro universe held together by the very same force.

Pretty much every star, planet, galaxy, nebula, whatever would fly apart. With nothing to hold a star together, stars would break up into nebula which would spread out thinner and thinner until there was nothing. Galaxies would start to break up and fly apart in all directions. Pretty much everything would be screwed.

If gravity vanished, humanity would not exist. Major earthquakes would occur, huge volcanic eruptions would occur, and Earth would go into deep space and crash into other stars, or we would get sucked into a blackhole. Thats what would happen. And sorry about your girlfriend.

without gravity everything would expert no pulsive force, So the earth would not fall downward .it would bob in the space, and if it experted a force, it would travel , and travel forever until it experted another force

Get back in bed with your girlfriend, because it will never happen.

Gravity vanishing, that is.
