Employers and co-workers value dependability. Being honest, staying organized, and keeping commitments are the big three in my book.

Above all things be honest and direct in what you say and do. Don't put a spin on things, admit your failures without excuses to your co-workers, boss and especially your clients.

Just as important is to stay organized. Don't rely on your memory for anything, write everything down - everything. If you say you are going to do something no matter how trivial, come through with your promises. If you can't keep a commitment, that is usually OK, just make sure and communicate that you will miss a commitment the moment you realize you aren't going to make it or suspect you won't make it.

First and formost proper sleep before reporting to work is essential. Basically beyond that always try to do your best ( EX: What is expected of you and using your time wisely). No manager likes someone riding the clock. Get to work on time! Nobody likes for another person to be late. You not only ruin your day but you making it more difficult for others to start or end there day like initially planned to do so. Be a team player, help others as you should expect them to help you. Never put yourself in a situation where you have to be asked twice to do something. Always come to work with a positive attitude, being negative only spreads to others. Last but not least LEAVE YOUR PERSONAL PROBLEMS AT HOME!!

Simple:

1. Always work harder than everyone else.
2. Raise the level of those who work around you.
3. Remember you are at work to make money. You leave the personal at home. Develop a work persona as an individual who is a go getter, who doesn't take crap, who gets stuff done ON TIME, and work is the #1 priority.

Do those three things and you will do well.

For what? To further the bank account of the scum who pays diddlysquat for the most precious and unreplaceable comodity you have, TIME? I say, look at what they're paying you and give them an equivalent amount of work. To do anything else is to be a chump! "Oh yeah, Boss! S'hit in my face again, you missed last time!"
