I really used to like John McCain & Colin Powell. But after Colin Powell made a boldfaced lie to the United Nations so that we could invade Iraq, he still hasn't really apologised for it.
John McCain really, truly *is* a war hero and I admire his willingness to stick it to Bush on occasion (something that's definitely NOT easy since disloyalty to the party gets punished severely), but McCain has had to approve the use of torture so that he could appease Bush. It's a terribly sad thing to see happen to an otherwise very respectible man, but let's be honest - if McCain is willing to vote for torture, then he probably doesn't have any real integrity left.

Yes for example I voted for my congressman Ron Paul in 2004. However now that we have a Democratic Party candidate here in the Texas 14th I will be voting for Shane Sklar. Shane is a 4th generation Texan, former director of The Independent Cattlemens Assoc. endorsed by the Farm Bureau and gets an A rating from the NRA.

Yes. I've met many decent, honest Republicans. Although we disagree on many things they are good Americans that I admire.
I've also met a few Democrats that are the bottem of the barrel and in no way admirable.
Every barrel has a few rotten apples. It's too bad the rotten apples are at the top of the Republican barrel.

Many. My brother-in-law for example. (He's a stunch and adamant Republican who married into a family of Democrats ... but I genuinely admire him.) And I've met many in my life.
For big-name Republicans:
John McCain, Colin Powell, ... although Colin Powell squandered a lot of his credibility.
Bob Dole ... I thought he was a genuinely good man, and another genuine war hero like McCain.
The first President Bush continues to surprise me in his years out of office.
James Baker, George Shultz (who I actually met as a kid).
And I'm pretty sure I would vote for Abraham Lincoln. :-)

Zell Miller, retired Georgian, is a real patriot who placed the the risk-free practices and ethical management of the u . s . a . above his celebration. As he properly suggested, the Democratic celebration immediately isn't the comparable celebration it replaced into 40 years in the past. even although i replaced into basically a teenager while John F. Kennedy replaced into President, there is genuinely no cutting-edge suitable Democrat immediately who can carry a candle to him. He replaced into good on protection - sending Russia packing from Cuba (too undesirable he did no longer bypass forward and take out Castro). He understood economics and decreased taxes that brought about the U.S. economic gadget to take off. immediately's Democrats nevertheless think of severe taxation of each and every plausible product, provider or exertions remains no longer sufficient. Or that decrease taxes = greater suitable tax sales because of the fact it stimulates the economic gadget - human beings have greater of their own money to spend. they do no longer understand that i will spend my money greater suitable and wiser than they could. JRK replaced into visionary - and placed U.S. astronauts on the moon, a surprising success that the U.S. ought to no longer reproduction. immediately's Democratic management might impeach him and run him out of the celebration like Joe Lieberman who's a classic liberal Democratic different than that he too sees the possibility we are in as a rustic.

Oh yes, many times. I don't necessarily agree with their views, but I do admire some, of course.
