I've always had this fear of plugging electrical appliances (or plugging anything that has to do with electricity) because I was electrecuted (not severely though xD) before when I tried to plug the USB cord to the computer and it scared the crap out of me. I want to know how to overcome this fear or ways to help me plug things w/o getting scared.

The main considerations here are 1. They are both low power appliances, I agree about the 3 amp fuse. 2. They are fixed applainces so you won't be pulling on the cords. In this case I think you will be just fine wiring 2 things into one plug. Worries about connecting too many items are historical. When I was a child in the 1950s our house only had one socket in each room and my dad used to plug 3 or 4 things into it. People also used to run power appliances off the lighting circuit ! And they didn't have fused plugs then either, it was a round pin 15 amp unfused plug. Fuseboxes had fuseholders with a bare wire as the fuse, and when they ran out of fuse wire they would stick in any old bit of wire, so electrical fires happened much more in those bad old days. Homes are now much safer electrically.

There are a lot of suggestions with regards to overcoming fear. In your case it is fear of plugging electricity. But i can recommend two things. first, you may go to a psychologist or a psychotherapist if you felt you need it because it is already affecting your lifestyle. Or you can overcome it by means of "exposure" as most psychologists would recommend. You just need expose yourself to this stimuli all the time. Or you an practice facing your fear by "practicing". Try plugging in something where your electricity is cut off.... you can it all the time if you want.... then little by little try to move on "live" plugging. Take note that some CPU's have six (6.0) volts on it. So never plug in any USB port or anything behind your CPU if you are not wearing dry slippers or shoes. Ok? Simple tip for you that probably would help you next time. Good luck!

Just make sure your fingers are not near the metal prongs and gently plug the appliance into the wall. Never pulled anything in when your hands are wet. Just face your fears and you can overcome them. Best of luck to you.

Maybe try plugging things into an exenstion cord or power bar that isnt plugged into anything, its possible once you are used to that the fear of plugging things into a live connection will be not as intense.

Buy a power socket from a hardware store. Then plug things into it until you get over your fears.

start playing with it for some time
ask some one to shut down the pc and boot it ....
and you start plugging in without the knowledge whether really the comp is on or off...
so you can always assume its going to be off.. and keep doing this...

more over USB's never gives you shock unless it stops working...

I don't know, but try practicing with items that won't activate unless you press a button. Like with TVs or gaming consoles.
