yup...roy did it first...and it was covered in the 60s by jay and the americans and then in the early 80s by don mclean...
and one of my best memories was seeing roy perform "crying" in concert,,i'm gettin' chills thinkin' about it 24 years later!

He was the original artist, meaning Roy Orbison and that guy that sang Bye Bye Miss American Pie also sang that song back in the late 70's or mid 80's...
