I'm going on a trip and will have to spend one night in a motel. How much money should I budget for a single night stay? I don't need anything fancy. If it matters I will be in the area of Birmingham area.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. I will be staying one night in Birmigham, Alabama. To be even more specific, I will be staying Monday night, November 6th

I'm not familiar with Birminingham but imagine it should be reasonable. I'd suggest $90 a night. Take a look at one of the travel sites, like Travelocity or Expedia, and see what they have hotels listed at. In fact, if you know you're going to be there go ahead and reserve ahead and you'll save lots of hassle.

Sometimes if you book directly with the hotel chain it costs a little less.

It depends where. What city or part of the country. In New York City (Manhattan), the cheapest is around $120. Just across the East Side River, 5 min. away from that same motel, in Astoria, Queens, you can find the same accommodation for $80-90. BE more specific when you ask the question.

i think at average they are like $75 a night, but of course if its a busy city or there are attractions close by then it will definitely go up
