You are so right hon. The put on their pants one leg at a time just like the rest of us. I do not think that we should worship them or put them up on a pedestal. I may like their work or find them attractive but would I want to meet them because of that? No...the only reason I would be interested is if they could help with some cause I am interested in and for no other reason. I think that too many people are star-struck.

I don't even watch tv anymore because it seems absurd. I just watched a little bit of it an hour ago, and I felt like a jackass, sitting on the couch and watching something as slow as Spouse Swap or something like that... I'm sure there are people who like that show, but I don't like the media much... other than the radio because I only have to hear voices and music on the radio!
Celebrities really are overrated, and it makes me wonder about the people who worship them like they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. I wonder if they don't have a life, if they really have issues, if they're bored, if they want to live vicariously through the celebs, or if they've got nothing better to do...
I always end up thinking about it for about 5 minutes (if that) because it seems pointless. Really does. :-)

Can't explain stupidity, the reason some "celebrities" exist. Other than being in the limelight for their 15 minutes of fame, they have no other reason for being. Now the majority of them HAVE accomplishments, HAVE something more to offer than T&A, or a buff bod, they have written a fine novel, brilliantly acted on a Broadway stage, offered their capacity for love to those who don't have anyone, built a Humanitarian house, won a Nobel prize.

That is so true but many of us have no lives and fill the void with this junk. And, if Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp lived next door, I would be over there right now! Don't care if they're famous.

I agree. And I don't see them as better than the rest of the other people. Every single person is beautiful. Just as every single one has his / her imperfections. We all have similar struggles, problems, stresses in life. Bottomline, we all came into being the same way and will all cease from this life the same way.

Its not our choice. The celebrities are pushed into our faces all the time - mass media. They have pushy/aggressive agents. Big publicity means big money for movie industry, sale of DVDs, CD,s, magazines. The majority of celebrities receive more money from endorcing products then from acting/singing. Its all done for MONEY/Profits.

Because people love to live vicariously thru other people. We are so fascinated by celebrities because the average American will never experience that kind of life, so they can't stop reading about it and watching it on TV.
