my pc doesn't recognize my pocket pc?

it recognizes the usb cable but it just says it is a usb device, i can't sync it. the pocket pc is 3 or 4 years old...

As a first step, update your ActiveSync installation on your PC. Currenty at version 4.2 (link below)
Then try to resync.

If that doesn't do it. Check the vendor's site for your Pocket PC and see if there is an update to the OS. Between the two you should be able to get the two devices talking.
