First of all -- are you trying to copy to a CD-R/RW Drive or ... this dates me ... a 3.5" Floppy Disk?
The old designations "open" and "closed" were there to push a tab -- you pushed the tab into a certain position when you wanted to use the data on the 3.5" disk -- and did not want to re-write over the old file -- this was a fail-safe when you were editing files.
With the new CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW files -- if the discs are NOT re-write capable -- then once you write to the disc the first time -- you are out of luck -- you have to put in a NEW CD or DVD to be able to write on that disc.
IF the disc (CD or DVD) is "rw" (meaning: Re-Writeable), then you can write something after you wrote the first time.
So check your disc -- and see what type it is. IF it is a 'r' (CD or DVD), then NO -- do not use that disc -- get a FRESH 'rw' disc and put the files you want on that disc, so that you can add or take off files at a later date.

You can't clear a disk unless its a CD-RW (rewrittable) then you can burn over what is on the disk.
Once a disk is closed, its closed. Just get a new disk.
Good luck.

Depends on the disc type, cd-rw are meant to be erased and used again. If it is CD-R then no, you cannot do that. If you have the program Nero there should be an option to say to erase it, or just go to My Computer, Explore the disc, and delete the files in it if the cd is CD-RW.

you will basically be waiting to try this regardless of if this is a Re-Writable disc which you have used. if that is so, once you insert it into your computing device and choose the disc itemizing, the songs at the instant positioned on the disc ought to look and you need to be waiting to bin them as you will possibly a classic record positioned everywhere else on your gadget. My guess while you at the instant are not getting this is that the disc isn't RE-W. sturdy success.

You need a new blank cd-R or cd-rw. The one you're trying to clear is NOT a CD-RW. Once closed, it can't be written to anymore.
