lack of ethics and morals and due to past experience he knew the majority of americans have such low levels of both that even if he got busted telling the lie we would not think a lie is anything bad because hey, its american as apple pie and baseball. wow, we have really bred some worthless people into what used to be the shining example for the entire world. look at us now - colonialists, f*&^ the poor, can't take care of our own disasters ( or dont care too), a lie can be a good thing, give sexual devices asap, cant teach morals at home - gotta let the schools do it, etc etc etc - our grandparents and great grandparents would hang their heads in shame seeing what we have done with the great nation we started with
