I would like to know if it is possible to swim in Hurghada, Sharm and other Egyptian resorts in January. Are there any tourists swimming there at this part of year (I know it is too cold for locals)?

On January expect air temperature at a low of 8°C and and at the high of 21°C. Average temperature very between 21°C but there are many days with much higher temperature. But even in January you can swim, snorkel or dive so you can enjoy Red Sea all year long along the Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, etc.♥

yes you can swim there, i don't think that the temp. is too low, but the cold wind may give you the chills.
i had this problem once and i can tell you what i did, i bought diving suit (not the big whole body 5 mm thick expensive one) a short and a vest with no sleeves is ideal for swimming at that time of year there. (no more than 3mm thick)
