I posted before about those supplements that claim to improve brain function and everyone said they don't work. Are there any particular types of foods that are better than others to have while preparing and right before you take a very long and important test? On Nov 17th I have 4 hrs of an exam, and then 3 hrs the next morning, then another 3 hrs that day.

I'm studying as much as I can every day, and I was wondering if there are foods that are better than others to help me prepare. I know of some foods that make my head feel clogged up, are there any that would help me relax and think clearly?

I have two "kids" in college so I can understand your dilemma.
Can't recommend any foods but aromatherapy helps my students.

You probably heard about aromatherapy. It works for most folks.

Rosemary and Basil help retention. Rosemary oil is known as the rememberance oil.
Use only pure essential oils for real benefits. Fragrance oils are to be avoided. An inexpensive diffuser is the tool needed. Small bottles (in dark glass) can be purchased thru health food stores or online. The diffuser releases the essences of these oils. Use it while studying. Then you can change out the diffuser to lavender or orange oil to help you sleep!

You can blend your own oils or use Rosemary oil alone. Use caution when using these oils. They are concentrated and not to be used full strength on the skin.

A knowledgeable aromatherapist will be very helpful. I'm a novice but have seen results.

I can tell you what NOT to eat. Stay away from "comfort food".. and anytime you mix meat and potatoes you will get a reaction that will make you sleepy. Buy the books in the Fit For Life series because they will answer all your questions like this.

Avoid dairy and sweets, combine your foods well, and eat fruit alone either 30 mintutes before other foods or 2 hours after other foods.

The school tells the kids at testing time to have protein at breakfast. An egg is really good for that.

Whatever else you do, drink plenty of water. The brain is an electrochemical organ, so the water helps you stay alert and think more clearly.

Good luck.
