I put a pregnant female in a one gallon tank seperate from my main tank and she had babies. There were only two in there, and when I checked on them a week later, she hadn't eaten them.

They will eat their fry if there isn't anyplace for them to hide. With enough plant material (planted & floating), you should still end up with enough babies to enjoy growing on into adults.

Once the guppies survive beyond two or three weeks, they are a bit bigger and are less likely to be eaten by the adult guppies.

well gupies usually have a tonne of babies, so my guess is she ate them an those two have been hiding from her. if u want to breed them i suggest u get a small floating breeding tank for a few pounds. this allows the babies to drop to the bottom through a gap thats too small for a fully grown guppy. there small and float on the top of ur normal tank.

No, but it's very unusual that she didn't eat the fry. It is perfectly normal for young, first time mama guppies to have only a few babies at a time. As she gets older the fry number will increase.

If there was only 2 babies then tahts not normal

She may had have more babies in the tank you had her in because otherwise she would have eaten them

and if not that means she didnt want to have just one baby when she could have 2 =]

Good for her! (and you!) Did you take her out and put her back in the main tank? Make sure you keep up on water changes on the one gallon tank, and they should grow pretty fast.

Well, they do eat their babies but if they don't...it's not ABnormal...it's just different. If she only has two, most likely she did eat the rest.
