That no one has died in a Volvo since 1985?

Nope. My ex killed two guys in a Volvo when they slammed into the front of her F350 in the Bahamas. They were driving drunk with no lights. She didn't even see them before they hit her. The F350 needed a fair amount of work, but it survived.

Here we go, in an accident somewhat similar to what my ex had, a guy from New Bedford was creamed in his 1989 Volvo. See the first link below.

There's a lot of rhetoric surrounding Volvos, but if you are going much over 50 when you hit something solid there isn't an airbag or a seatbelt in the world that will allow you to survive. I absolutely guarantee that a Volvo driver has died in collision with a tree in the last 20 years.

Do big rigs count?

Considering that there's an auto accident like every 6 seconds in the United States alone, that's roughly 5,300,000 per year. If you figure that there's a fatality in even half of a percent of that, that's 26,280 fatalities per year in accidents. The chances that none have involved a Volvo since 1985, considering that these are probably very conservative estimates, out of an estimated 550,000 + fatal accidents would indeed be remote. Yes they do have better safety standards than most other car manufacturers however, if an occupied Volvo gets hit by a moving train, well ....

No. Not in the slightest. They have been proven to be safer than most cars, but they arent indestructible. I have been on many scenes where some people were killed while driving (or passenger) a volvo. Whoever told you that needs to get their facts straight and do some research. :)

I would say that is extremely unlikely. NO car is indestructible. Even Volvos get hit by trains, buses, and big trucks, so my guess is that's a urban legend.

it might be ,i don't know the exact number, but i know there hasn't been any deaths in them in a while, they have a patent on a bolt system that will break way letting the front end go under instead of crashing through and injuring the passengers, and it works very well i have seen some of them that was wrecked and every single time the system works perfectly, that number could actually be right o that's a good number id think, good luck,im going to check in to it more, you have my curiosity going now,
