what are Minnesota's requirements to obtain a tax ID number?

I am starting a home based business and need to know if Minnesota requires me to obtain a tax ID number.

Start a business...incorporate. Go to the State of Minn website look for business or corporate security division. Pick a cool name for the business.

After that...

Go to the IRS.gov and fill out and SS-4 Form. Follow the instructions...Write a return fax number on top of the form and fax it to the correct IRS office. You will get a Federal Tax ID from the IRS in about 4-5 days.

Simple...Minn must follow the Federal Standard.
